Generative AI Policy

1. General provisions

The journal “Scientific Bulletin of Mukachevo State University. Series “Economics” recognises that generative artificial intelligence (AI) systems may assist in the preparation, editing, and improvement of academic texts. However, in accordance with international ethical standards (COPE, Elsevier), their use must be transparent, limited, and responsibly controlled.

The Editorial Board requires all authors to adhere to the principles of academic integrity, accountability, and transparency when using AI tools.

2. Permitted use

Generative AI tools may be employed solely as auxiliary instruments for the following purposes:

  • improving the style, grammar, or translation of the text;
  • structuring or formatting data (tables, figures, diagrams);
  • summarising publicly available information without generating new scientific claims.

All instances of AI use must be clearly declared within the manuscript.

3. Prohibited use

The Editorial Board strictly prohibits the use of AI for:

  • creating or modifying research results, analytical data, or conclusions;
  • generating or falsifying citations, references, or sources;
  • drafting peer reviews or making editorial decisions;
  • concealing plagiarism, fabrication, or manipulation of data.

If such violations are detected, the Editorial Board reserves the right to reject the manuscript or retract the published article, in line with the COPE Retraction Guidelines.

4. Authorship

In accordance with the ethical standards of COPE and Elsevier, artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.
Authorship is reserved exclusively for individuals who have made an intellectual contribution to the conception, analysis, writing, and verification of the manuscript.

5. Author responsibility

Authors bear full responsibility for:

  • the accuracy and reliability of the scientific content;
  • the correctness of data and conclusions;
  • the ethical use of auxiliary tools, including generative models.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to request additional clarification or evidence concerning the integrity of AI use.

6. Policy for reviewers and editors

Reviewers and members of the Editorial Board must not upload manuscripts to generative AI systems (e.g., ChatGPT, Bard, Copilot, etc.) for the purpose of obtaining comments or reviews, so as not to compromise the confidentiality of submitted materials.
