The increase of agricultural produce efficiency and competitiveness is nowadays impossible without applying scientific achievements and introducing innovations into the production. Agrarian science has sufficient potential but the pace of scientific and technological progress implementation into agricultural production is far behind the pace of their development at research institutions. One of the main reasons for this situation is connected with the low paying capacity of most agricultural producers. Therefore, the necessity of finding new methods for increasing innovation and investment activity of agricultural enterprises has determined the relevance and practical significance of the chosen topic. The aim of the article is the investigation of certain aspects of innovation and investment opportunities of agricultural enterprises of Sumy region and to give complex characteristic of their current state. Development of innovation and investment activity of agricultural enterprises of Ukraine needs a new look at «innovative» directions of investment of money by agricultural producers. A study of these problems of region is objective condition for the increase of competitiveness of enterprises of AIC of Sumy region. The study once again proved that one of the main factors for successful functioning of any company is its innovative activity. Generalization of respondents’ evaluation confirms the fact that among the main «innovation» areas of agricultural producers’ investments is the purchase of materials, new animal breeds and new agricultural machinery. On the basis of the analysis, the main problems of innovation and investment activity of agricultural enterprises of Sumy region and basic solutions have been suggested. We would like to emphasize that innovation and investment development of agricultural production has received little attention as industrial enterprises are much more active. As a result a significant number of agricultural enterprises limit the amount of innovations used in their production. Large farms have sufficient innovative potential but smaller ones lack financial resources. The increase of profitability and financial sustainability of agricultural enterprise leads to the fact that it ventures to attract investments, loans. To overcome these limitations is possible due to the following factors: support of local authorities; the ability to attract significant amounts of cheap investment resources; creation of modern and attractive village infrastructure; promoting the development of related industries. The results of research can be used in the development of strategic and program documents at the regional level, including Strategy of Sumy region, and for a multitude of current problems, particularly those requiring urgent decisions by state and local authorities.
