Environmental and Economic Views of V.I. Vernadskyy

Abstract

The views of V.I.Vernads’kyy on the characteristics and patterns of the relationship between economic and environmental factors in the process of mutual existence of society and the environment have been studied in the article. The theory of environment has been highlighted and the role of a man has been justified, intellectual and scientific, environmental and economic activities at the stage of a new state of the biosphere - the noosphere. The concept of "noosphere" is regarded as an integrated system, which combines environmental and economic factors transforming society and nature through such mechanism as the highest human mind. The environmental and economic views of V.I.Vernads’kyy in the transformation of nature and society, and its contribution to world science have been grounded and highlighted. Analysis of the main factors of ecological and economic relationship showed that the nature of this relationship is a natural, extremely tight and practically inseparable, but contradictory and often mutually destructive. In particular, human economic activity often results in the occurrence of adverse environmental factors, and vice versa, adverse environmental conditions may impede economic activity. The views of V.I.Vernads’kyy have been highlighted, who pointed out that industrial activity of people increases, comparable with geological transformations that enhances environmental risks. Based on the ecological and economic views of V.I. Vernads’kyy, an attempt to identify and analyze environmental and economic functions in the human transformation of the biosphere into the noosphere has been made. The main provisions of Vernadskyy's study about noosphere, where synthesis of natural science and humanities ideas can be clearly seen: dominance of human-beings, particularly economic, compared to many environmental processes; the growing importance of economic, social, political and cultural cooperation between governments to address issues of economic, spiritual and environmental policies on a planetary scale. The attempt to isolate and analyze ecological and economic functions of the human system of global changes in society and nature, towards the formation of a qualitatively new environment has been made.
